The District of Columbia Urban Debate League (DCUDL)
is part of a national movement that seeks to establish
competitive debate among urban youth in the United
States. The DCUDL is dedicated to expanding the opportunities
for the young people of DC to develop reading, writing,
and speaking skills through intellectual competition,
and to become confident, articulate citizens and authentic
leaders of their communities.
Debate is a real world activity. Colleges seek students
who can think critically. Businesses reward employees
who can communicate effectively. Democracy requires citizens
who can participate actively. Debate is training for success in our society.
There are many ways that you can support the success of
DC public school students. Please contact Colin Touhey,
DCUDL Executive Director, at 202-341-5101 or colin2e@dcdebate.org. |

Debate in Your Classroom
The DCUDL is dedicated to spreading the opportunities
and benefits to as many of DC's young people as
possible. Accordingly, we support more than just
participation in competitive debate. If you are
interested in how you can incorporate debate in
your classroom and or more broadly into your curriculum,
please contact Colin Touhey (202-341-5101 or colin2e@dcdebate.org).
